Location: Haruna's quarters
Having been told by the computer that Haruna was in her quarters, that's where Garran headed next. She wasn't going to be happy, but he didn't have a choice. He had changed into the grey and black uniform of Intel by now and put on his new, two gold and one black rank pips, though he still walked with his cane, and still carried his reading glasses in a pocket.
Once at Haruna's door he rang the chime.
Haruna looked up from the far side of the room. She was wearing her scruffs, covered in oil and grease a small light on her head.
"Come in" she said as she tightened the nut on the engine she was playing with.
And enter he did, leaning on his cane. "Hey Haruna." he spoke, calmly, his voice gentle. "Got a minute?" he added, letting her take in his re-uniformed state.
"All the... time in the world" Haruna said as she finished tightening the knut. "Whats on your mind?... Wait. You're in a different colour...."
A nod from Garran. "I was transferred. I'm the chief Intel now. No longer the, or a counselor." he mused, watching Haruna carefully for her reaction. "I'm sorry, Haruna. I won't be handling your case anymore."
Haruna dropped the spanner which made a large clang on the deckplates. "Wait. What?" she asked simply. "I don't want anyone else. I don't know anyone else, you were there, you know what happened!"
"I was and I do." he agreed. "I'll still be your friend, Haruna. You can still come by any time you want to talk or just need an ear." he added. "My door is always open."
Haruna smiled. "Thanks" she replied. "Captain Rhimer wants a status report from you regarding me" she explained remembering her meeting with the Captain earlier in the day.
Garran smiled and gave a nod. "I'll make sure he gets one. You've made remarkable progress, Haruna. I'll make sure Lieutenant Dallas knows it too. She will be taking over from me."
Haruna nodded. "Good. Because I'm getting a little tired of not doing much" she explained. "Plus, Ayumu has been helping me a lot, he's helped me truly express myself and get close to someone" she beamed, before turning slightly pink.
"Ayumu?" Garran flicked an ear.
Haruna blushed and stuttered slightly. "He's a friend.... ok more than that... but a friend... erm..." she suddenly became quite bashful dropping her tools and blushing.
Garran smiled an enormous, honest smile that under any other circumstance might be considered terrifying. "He's your boyfriend? That's awesome, Haruna. I'm so happy for you. Would you tell me about him?"
"One... could put it that way..." she paused again. "He's a nice guy. Like cheesecake... thats how I met him..." she laughed nervously. "Cheesecake..."
"Well, I'm really happy for you, Haruna. I'm looking forward to meeting him, if things get more serious." Garran smiled. "All in due time though. How's Okita working out for you?"
"He's doing well thanks" Haruna replied with a smile. "He often tells me how much he loves..." she paused for a moment. "Cucumbers. He loves to slice them and put them in sandwiches.." she added raising an eyebrow in confusion.
"I was not aware they were programmed for that." Garran flicked an ear. "But then, he's probably far from standard by now, knowing you." he smiled. "Well, I should probably get back to work."
Haruna simply smirked. "I might have added a few upgrades to his programming" she explained.
"I would've been surprised if you hadn't." Garran smirked. "Don't be a stranger, Haruna. You're always welcome." he added, heading out again.
Haruna nodded. "I'll see you around!" she waved back at him.
